Holi, the annual festival of colours that begins with lighting of a bonfire is also one of the most important festivals of the tribals of Prabalmachi. The trees that fall down during the monsoon are brought to the holi pit. A fig tree adorns the middle. A chain of coconuts is placed all over the tree. A pooja is Performed and the villagers wish upon the tree for blessings and promise to give offerings when their wishes are fulfilled. Next morning at 4 AM, newlyweds and the villagers circumambulate the structure and the fire is lit. The coconuts from the pyre are collected and used to make a delicious prasad which is distributed among everyone.
